what an awesome weekend.
sleeping in and lots of playing and watching planet earth and having friends over and eating delicious chinese food with a fun pupu platter that had actual fire on it, like some sort of hawaiin tiki thing, and tonight eating swiss fondue with my husband, standing in the kitchen (cuz the pot has to stay plugged in or the cheese hardens up immediately), dipping chunks of sourdough bread and sliced apples and pieces of turkey breast into the hot delicious melty cheese, laughing and playing, lots of loving and fun, reading a great book, doing all of our christmas shopping in one day (with the exception of whatever we're getting each other, but still. there were 8 adults and 5 kids to buy for. it was a lot of shopping), oh and oh yeah. GETTING OUR NEW COUCH DELIVERED. i only bought it 12 weeks ago. sheesh.
it is so much better than our old one is so many ways, you guys. it's like some sort of magic couch where the laws of the physical universe don't apply. because it's only 4 inches wider than our old one, but it holds an entire additional person. and we can both lay down on it at once, with the pups. it's amazing and i love it so. just about the only downside is the color. i wanted a deep rich red velvet, but they only had red in this microsuede-type fabric which is super soft and easy to clean, but also? a little bright. ok, a lot bright. it's like a neon tomato sitting in my living room. every time i think i care about that, though, i sit down on it and forget. plus, i think it will look better when we get the new area rug we've been looking at and neutralize some of the other colors going on around the room. here's hopin', anyway.
so yes. amazing weekend. lots of fun. lots of love and happiness.
oh and one more small thing.
i got an offer from my old employer on friday. countered their offer friday afternoon, they accepted, and an official offer letter arrived from fed ex on saturday morning. i signed it, fedexed it back to them and tomorrow i have to go in and give my notice to my current job. where i've only been employed for two months.
*sigh*
it's shitty and i feel bad about doing it to my current place. but it's what's best for my career. the company i'm at now is a well known software company, but they're nowhere near the top of the game for my particular role. i'm a writer for web applications. they do tax and financial desktop software. my new job? is writing for the granddaddy of all web apps. i don't want to name names, but if you've ever purchased music online, odds are that you've heard of it.
wish me luck tomorrow. it'll probably be the hardest resignation letter i've ever had to turn in.
just goes to show you how good this weekend was that even that isn't really bugging me at the moment.
